ALLY ROW LAUNCH NEXT CAREER CHAPTER WITH STUNNING NEW SINGLE, “TAIL LIGHTS”

By Malcolm McCaffery

Gippsland duo Ally Row are stepping into an exciting new chapter with the release of their stunning new single, “Tail Lights.”

Off the back of what can only be described as a meteoric rise, Alice Fitzgerald and Rowan are continuing to build momentum with a song that captures the ache, uncertainty and quiet hope of life on the edge of change.

For years, the pair found themselves driving from Gippsland to South Australia for weddings, watching friends and family begin new chapters of their lives. Over time, Adelaide, known as the City of Churches, began to feel like more than just a destination. It became a kind of symbol, a place they were being pulled toward, as though their own future was waiting somewhere along that road.

That sense of movement, longing and possibility sits at the heart of “Tail Lights.” The song was written late last year on a long drive from Gippsland, past Adelaide, and onward to Western Australia. It was later recorded in just two days with award-winning producer Dylan Olliviere, whose credits include work with Siobhan Cotchin, Harry Foxton, and Joan and The Giants.

The result is a raw and emotionally open release that feels both intimate and expansive. It is a song about feeling stuck, but not staying still. About staring into the unknown and realising that sometimes the road ahead only makes sense once you are already on it.

“When life feels grey and stale and like the world has nothing left to give, often something new and exciting is just around the corner, if we stay open to these possibilities,” says Alice Fitzgerald.

Rowan adds that the song also speaks to the confusion and beauty of losing your way.

“When you feel lost, the best thing to do is try and remember that losing your way is often part of the journey. You can’t find yourself driving down someone else’s road.”

With “Tail Lights,” Ally Row mark the beginning of a bold new era, one shaped by reflection, movement and the courage to follow a road that is entirely their own.
